I just was in a very different, and ve...Great post! I just was in a very different, and very similar situation in Madrid for WYD. Not that it was an issue of justice, mind you, but I ended up needing emergency medical care and no one at the ER spoke English. So with my high school Spanish and ear for language, I did my best to speak, and to understand. And they picked up on my ability to make sense of things, but it still was frustrating...
